Nicole O’Brien is a licensed marital and family therapist (LMFT) and Director of Family Therapy at Causeway Collaborative. She graduated from Fairfield University with her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, and then went on to complete her PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Connecticut. She then returned to Fairfield University, where she was a tenured Associate Professor and Program Director for the Marriage and Family Therapy Program until joining the Causeway team in 2023.
Nicole’s experience as a college athlete, family business consultant, therapist, and professor inform the foundation of her expertise in human behavior and how family systems function. Whether on the basketball court, in the classroom, therapy room, or conference room, Nicole has seen how people and relationships, connection and collaboration, and communication can either enhance or detract from achieving a family’s potential. She is able to quickly assess a family’s foundational strengths, while also laser-focusing on areas of growth that will expand the family’s ability to work more cohesively together. At Causeway, Nicole combines her passion for helping families progress to the next meaningful stage of their life cycle with her deep knowledge of relationships to help parents and families create more harmonious relationships with one another.
