Nick Fernandes is a Clinician and Mentor at Causeway Collaborative. He is a Fairfield native, and attended Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Nick graduated Magna Cum Laude from Eastern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Additionally, he was a valuable member of the ECSU Men’s Lacrosse team, graduating with recognition from the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) for excellence in the classroom and on the field. Upon graduation, Nick moved to New York City to further his education at Columbia University, and received his Master’s in Social Work with a specialization in Advanced Clinical Practice.
Nick’s experience as a clinician began at Hartford Dispensary, a Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program that works tirelessly to combat the opiate epidemic in New England. Nick worked in the demanding role of a case manager, treating individuals with acute opiate addiction and a wide range of mental health diagnoses. While earning his Masters degree, Nick expanded his clinical lens while working with adolescents as a Social Worker in the New York City public school system. During his time as a School Social Worker, he used his expertise to help students overcome the abundance of challenges that exist at home, in school and in the community. Nick brings enthusiasm and unwavering commitment to his work with clients.
